If not one thing it's another
Was going to post about issue with driver door lock. From the outside I can unlock it but can't lock it or so I thought. turns out it is just very hard to turn. never tried to turn it that hard due to only having one key. After realizing this I went to the rear door and found it wont open. The handle is stuck in the depressed position and will not open from inside either. All ready reviewed the RAVE so this weekend that's the job a hand provided nothing else rears its ugly head...
Soak the rear door latch with PB blaster and then tap on it after it sits for a while. They get corroded and get sticky. Mine did the same thing and a little penetrating oil and a few taps released it. I cycled the assembly several times and its been good to go since.
I have the same issue with the drivers door lock, so far I've been lucky not to break the key but it is more force than i would generally be comfortable with using for somethin like this...
I did try to lube it with some graphite, but that didn't do any good.

compressed air blown in the cylinder with penetrating oil, has proved successful for me. I do not use graphite on anything that may be open to moisture/condensation/humidity. i have had it get gummy/muddy. that's just me.
Penetrating lube could be worse, graphite lube is made for lock mechanisms, moisture may get in there and wash it away thats fine i can add more if it becomes an issue.
any of the oils i would be more concerned with them helping other crap to stick and contaminate the mechanism over time ... just my thoughts
PB Blaster did the trick! I think the most clever thing Rover did was make that logo removable to be able to get to it. Didn't even need a hammer to tap it.
If you go to the tech section I have a thread on this, every 6 months lube all locks, latches, hinges and slides with silicone spray, more often if you live on a dirt road or where they use tons of road salt in the winter.
