Default Inertia switch Disco 1

I am currently restoring a 97 discovery 1 4.0L. Head gasket job initially, now working out the other details. After some wires plugs & coil and some sea foam seems to run decent. Cleaned some sensor wiring connections as well and that improved the performance even more (crank and cam sensors). Still a little shaky off the start and seems to have a minor engine miss but revs on out now… especially after the new coil install and sensors wire maintenance.

The inertia switch was missing and jumpered, truck starts and runs using the bypass approach. Bought a new inertia switch from Atlantic Brit plugged it in and no start. I have been reviewing this forum with many suggestions found.

Is there a key sequence to reset the inertia switch ? I plan to check continuity on the new switch but I am also reading the crank sensor could present a no start condition when an inertia switch is in the circuit.

Simple things first. Did you press the switch button? Did it click?

Yes it clicked. But while connecting it and moving it around there is a rattle inside of it. It would not click a second time.

It shouldn't click again until after you crash, so hopefully never again. Idk about the rattle though. Maybe there's a weight to detect a crash. Maybe give it a good shake and see if it trips. It should have continuity just like the jumper did.
