Default Inhibitor Switch

I think I have narrowed down my 96 disco issue to the inhibitor switch

When I go to start, I have to put the key in the run position then switch to Reverese, then back to Park......and then I can start the truck.

Once running the tach, fuel gauge, temp gauge and other lights dont work, but the truck runs and drives perfectly normal.

I pulled the switch and wipped it off. Honestly I did not know what I was looking for.

The Rave says to replace the o ring. I guess I will go tot he LR dealer and see if they have that oring.

I really dont want to buy a $300 switch, so I am trying to figure out how to fix this.

Any thoughts?

I' pretty sure this is the same as a neutral safety switch in American cars.

are you talking about the park inhibitor switch that sits on the auto transmission?
if you end up needing one, I got a spare I could hook you up with
