Default inputing radio code in a 96 Disco

I asked this of Rover Chris is a different post:
Could you also do me the favor of spelling out step by step how to res-start the radio, cassette using the code.....I want to be sure that my unit is broken before replacing it and or tell me where to find this info in the RAVE complete version that is!

When I bought the car from a lady who was mostly clueless about the operations of her Disco I, she did not know if the radio worked.....but I found a slip of paper in the ash tray with "Radio Code 36513" and "Discovery I TA516446" The radio currently only picks up the NOAA weather channe. Markl

For some reason I keep having to unplug the battery, which forces you to enter the code. If it doesn't say CODE on the screen, I'd say that something is wrong with it (beyond a code problem). You can force it in by unplugging it either the battery or the connector(s?) on the back.

hate to say it but I am pretty sure the radio is for some reason not working right, if it needs a code you shouldn't get anything from it. If your hearing the weather band then it sounds like it is working. but to answer your question when it displays "code" then you simply punch in your code and it should turn right on, but I agree with Paul if it doesn't say code then I would consider replacing it.

if you do replace it be aware of the fact that our trucks have a separate amp under the dash (and sometimes under the passenger seat) that will need to be either interfaced with or bypassed. If you decide to replace it I can explain the pros and cons to both options and how to do either option.
