Default Disco I questions, repair maual, radio code

I need a repair manual for my 98 Disco. What do you recommend?

My factory radio is showing "CODE". I assume from when the Dealer
installed the new battery. I do not have the owners manual. Is there a way
to get the code?

Call the nearest L-R dealer and with a VIN No. you should be able to get the radio code.

I just went through this with my newly purchased Disco1. You will probably have to pull the radio out of the dash and get the radio's serial number. The dealer will be able to get the code with this info.

You don't have to pull the radio initially, just give the dealer your vin number, if the code number they come up with doesn't work, then you may need to pull the radio because chance are the radio may have been replaced.
As for a manual,
go on e-bay and buy a Rave CD that will have all of the shop manual for your truck.

LR dealer gave me a 5 digit code. After entering it the radio beeps but that
is it. Still showing CODE. Do you just enter the code or is there something
else I need to do?

Thanks,
Mike

They are 5 digit codes. To pull the radio, you have to insert a small flathead jeweler's screwdriver into the 2 small holes and loosen the holders. You can get a BMW stereo removal tool if you want, but this will work. Get the # off the back of the radio and call the dealer. All you have to do is put the number in, if that doesn't work it is the wrong code....

You can get a free Rave CD from rover-renovations.com, but it takes a couple of weeks to get to you. If you want it now, get one off of E-bay. You can print the page you need and take it out to the truck with you.

I got it working. I am not sure how. I let it sit for a couple of hours
with the power on and radio turned on.
Cycled the radio off then on. This time when I entered the
first digit the "CODE" display started flashing. After entering
the rest of the code the radio came on.

I should also mention I called Bob Moore Land Rover of OKC several
times and could not get the code. I called Land Rover of Tulsa and got
the code on the first call.

Thanks,
Mike
