Default KYB Shocks

Are these any good?

Trying to find something to pair up with OME +1.5" that wont break the bank.

What Ive found in the way of word-of-mouth-reviews...

Rancho: Some say ok, most say garbage
Pro-comp: garbage
Gabriel: garbage
Terrafirma: some say ok

For KYB, all I can find is one post that says they are good, but not for serious offroading.

I plan on going off-pavement once in awhile, but not extensively.

Any advice?

Thanks for the input.

Interestingly, that's the cheapest option other than Gabriel.

I know I'll get flamed for this, but I still like the Pro-Comp shocks.

The ones you have picked are not what you want on a Disco.
First, exactly what lift and coil part numbers are you running?
If you want good shock, assuming you are wanting to play off road, look at the OME Sports shock or the Iron Man new gas or foam shock. If you had a lot more lift I would say the Bilstein but you would not benefit from them at their cost.

OME HD +1.5"

The thing with OME or Bilstein is I have to spend $4-500 for a set.

If I were planning on doing a safari trek I would splurge, but Im not.

I was under the impression that Terrafirma is, at the very least, a decent shock?

Yea they are a good quality shock. I have installed there kit on a hand full of trucks. Some of them take them out and wheel them pretty hard.

I think Discomike will probably note failures of them on the D1 because they are pin style shocks. meanwhile OME pin style shocks fail too, ask me how I know.

I have Gabriel Ultra shocks on my truck, good shocks for the money, been on for almost 5 years and are still good.
I dont see the need to spend $500 on shocks alone especially when you can buy a whole suspension kit shocks included for $550.

OME shocks are built by Tenneco who also builds Monroe. They are built to OME valving specs but are built with the same component's as Monroe. Food for thought...Tenneco also builds Rancho, Pro Comp, numerous OE shocks, as well as numerous other aftermarket brands.
