Default Land rover discovery 1 1997 Radio install issues HELP!!!

Okay so i bought the adapter i need to install a aftermarket radio into my rover but im having some trouble (i just ordered a different adapter in hopes of that working) but i cant get the radio to work and i dont have the time or money to rewire the entire system im worried my radio system is grounded out weird or something because if i take a multi meter and touch it to left radio (-)or(+) then on the radio 12v power plug i get a voltage reading... is that okay or am i going to have to take my dash out and gut the car until i find a problem???? CAN ANYONE HELP??? this was supposed to be easy.

I put an after market in mine it was a big pain in the ****. Put about 60 hours into it and cut of all the harnesses because nothing fit. So I just ended up rewinding the whole thing. I know this doesn't help but I wish you luck.

What harness did you get?
I used a Metra 70-9400 Radio Wire Harness without any issues.

I don't remember which harness it was. I bought it from crutchfield. I tried so many different things and when I did get it to work I was getting interference from the amp in the passenger footwell. I just ended up running all new wires, speakers, subwoofer and amplifier. Now it sounds great

Radio re-do’s are a G damn nightmare. I basically required my whole set up too. Just a nightmare....

you can just ground the head unit to any ground you want (or make your own) to if that's your issue. there's a cigarette lighter right below that wouldn't be too hard to get to. if you have 12v constant and acc you should be good to go. I would run new speaker wire though when you have time and bypass the amp. you're not going to be able to integrate it so just bite the bullet and bypass. you'll have plenty of power out of the aftermarket head unit anyway. plus speaker wire is cheap
