I recently purchased 4 blocks that will give me a possible two inch lift.........I do enjoy the stock spring rates and hope the vehicle will get a nice lift while retaining the ride quality.

It's all a matter of what you're trying to accomplish

Are you going to remove your sway bars?

You can get away with a 2" spacer lift with sway bars however if you take the sways off I would recommend a set of coils with heavier rating to help with body roll.

Shocks - you will likely want to get some longer shocks as well. Terrafirma makes a good cheap kit with shocks and springs. Justin at L8 has good prices on it all.

With bigger tires it is always recommened to regear. Rule of thumb is 4.11's for 32's/33's 35's run best at 4.37's. You can get away with stock gearing for 32's and 33's but it's gonna be a dog. 35's would suck on stock gears and will eat stock diffs and axles.

235/85/16 Skinny 32" very minor trimming is needed for these two
265/75/16 Wide 32"
255/85/16 Skinny 33" a little trimming it needed for the skinny
285/75/16 Wide 33" more timming or lift is needed for the wide
315/75/16 Wide 35" - I' know guys who run this size on stock rover wheels but it's a little wide for most peoples comfort. - gonna need to trim a lot and gonna want 3" + of lift

Biggest benefit of rover wheels is they seal a bead pretty damn well.

 

jake, its my wifes daily driver and she loves the rugged look. for offroad use its only sand and desert.

For her safety and that of our new daughter I would say the sway bars stay.


I think what she would like is a 2 inch lift and more agressive LOOKING tires, ie wider for sure, maybe taller....

Keep the sways add the spacers and see how it feels on the road. However I can tell you there is nothing like new springs and shocks on one of these trucks.

 

Well the shocks are new, as are the slotted and drilled rotors, new calipers etc. all suspensions bushings done about 2 years ago or less.

Stock tire size on it now, how wide are the rims?

 

Stock rims are 7" wide

Only issue with wider tires is that you lose turning radius. It's not terrible with 245's just something to keep in mind.

 

235/85/16. Nice and narrow to keep your turning radius and tall to fill the wheel well nicely. Might need a very slight Camel Cut just behind the front tires. If done well it will look sano.

They're not that bad. They actually look pretty good. My buddy just put 235/85/16 Goodyear DuraTracs on his D1 and they look really good. Its the one on the ramps in this pic. His front bumper is slightly tweaked, normally the plastic wouldn't be that close.
