Default Lucas hub oil for swivels?

I've ordered and am going to try lucas hub oil in my swivels.

It's (by all I've read) a severe duty synthetic heavy oil that clings to metal surfaces to protect even in the event of seal failure. (big truck hub bearings)

It also claims to help stop leaks (don't they all)

I've contacted Lucas in Canada for a little input (will it mix with moly-based grease and gear lube? - OK for cv joints, etc.)

I'll post as necessary

luck,greg

Bless you Greg, I was getting a little concerned with my swivels after all the recent discussion. I'll be interested in your findings.

Sorry, it's not synthetic - bad boy

It's about $8/qt. (32oz.) $5 ship (Summit racing, online)

The gen mngr in canada, "Alan Newstead", emailed back that it plays nice with grease & gear oils, but will reduce the NLGI grade of grease & make it softer.

One shot's soft already, like mayonaise

Since he didn't throw up red flags, I'll try it.

Thats what I was going to put in my swivals last time I changed them. But the truck stop was out. I use that stuff in my trailer hubs that leak i'll vouch that that stuff does stop leaks pretty good. The only down side to it is its thick as molases. I always warm it up so its easier to pour. FWIW most truck stops usually carry it if you have any local.

I put that in when I first got mine. Didn't leak. I took everything apart the put new seals and bearings in my swivels and changed to the RP concoction. Everything looked ok when taking apart.

According to the rave - 3/4 of a pint - ea. (one tube of one-shot in ea.)

This is a qt. will do (2) with a little left over - I'm going to thro' in a pint in ea. probably

This was $13 shipped to me, but I'll find it locally for around $8 I think.

I checked it today, has the consistancy of honey @ room temp

I put some in my DIIs rear diff a few years ago, it was leaking. It's stopped leaking now but I also changed the gear oil with a higher weight and replaced O-rings at the same time so i'm not sure if the hub oil did the trick or not. It was hard to find locally I think I had to order online.
