Default MFU fix - Unplug door switches?

Ok, this one is not due to my own idiocy.

I have what seems to be an MFU issue.

When a door switch is grounded (door is opened) the light comes on and does not shut off when the switch is un-grounded (door closed).

Additionally, the rear wiper will work then stop working when a door is opened, but NOT resume function when the door is then closed.

These seem like tell-tale signs of a funky MFU. Ive researched all I could about it, but to paraphrase Spike555, people either never find a fix or never post it.

It also seems like I can alleviate this by disabling all the door switches.

My question is, aside from not knowing if a door is ajar and not having alarm function, are there any consequences to disabling all the door switches?

Manual dome lights. An MFU can come from a boneyard, or dismantler.

Yeah, thats the route I would take. Does that sound like the problem?

It was for me, a variety of unrelated problems all tied back to the module.

could you try disconnecting just the driver's side switch? mine is disconnected for some reason, perhaps due to the same funky mfu problems... alarm still works.

This whole investigation started because my drivers switch wire was not connected to the switch. I found the wire (which I think was permanently grounded) and started conducting tests.

Just leaving the drivers one disconnected is only so helpful because the incorrect behavior occurs when any door is opened.

then i suppose the only consequence to disconnecting all the switches is having to get used to a perfectly useless alarm system.

here's a useful link though:

Oh wow.

I had totally read that thread, but somehow saw it as a different problem than mine. Nice job me.

It should be really easy to solder in a new transistor...just have to find one.

The transistor is what controls the dim down of the interior lights.

Get a used MFU. They're pretty simple.
