When I got my truck, I called the dealership for the code. The one they gave me didn't work; I tried all of the tricks (leave it on for three hours and try again, etc) that I could find. Nothing worked. When I removed the radio, there was no serial number on it.

So I ordered a replacement from eBay that has a serial number. Called the dealership, and they can't give me a radio code without knowing the VIN of the vehicle that the radio originally came out of.

This security code bull**** is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life.

What are the alternative options here? I'm on hold with Land Rover customer service right now, but I don't expect any love.

 

I just removed the stock radio from my D1, your welcome to it if you want, just cover shipping.

I am wondering if you know what colour the speaker wires are, the guy that had the 97 disco before me installed an aftermarket stereo but the stock speakers are not connected.

This might help. It helped me GREATLY...

1-4 are the speaker wires coming FROM the headunit TO the stock amp. I don't know the colors off the top of my head, but find the amp under the passenger kick panel (it's up there a ways) and you've got your colors.
