MPT (miles per tank)
I had a 88 G20 conversion van. Before I got the rover. That thing was awesome built 350 straight headers, flat screen, led lighting, subs, 8mpg, 40 gal tank, my pizza delivery budget just couldn't afford it....
Mine was a 67 Chevy Sport Van 90. A window van with a factory Power Pack 283 High Performance Engine right between the two bucket seats. That thing was awesome on the beach or in the muddy backwoods areas. We went almost anywhere in it.
Well, for all you stockers out there, my D1 is completely stock(tires too) and gets 10mpg. But I also have an intermittent high idle issue(that could be considered stock too...) I calculate that the old fashioned way with a pen and paper then compare it to my UltraGauge. Both say the same thing. And it does not matter how much fuel is in the tank or when you fill up. It is calculated the same. My mileage does not change if I fill up at 3/4 tank vs. empty. The mpg is the same.
Ok I'm getting 320 per tank(22gal). My float on the pump marks wrong on the gauge. I fill up every 300miles 20gal. 15mpg. Good thing I only use this truck for work which is only 7miles away 4x a week. Tank last me a whole month. Thanks to the eco car my wife has.
Jeez, I'd be happy with some of these mileage numbers. I have the 23 gal tank, and I'm averaging about 280mi a tank. I have the OME lift and bigger tyres too, but otherwise nothing different than stock...roughly 13.5-14 MPG.
Approximately 400 miles on a full tank of 93 octane Sunoco from Philly to home today, non stop, 60-65 mph cruise all highway, just picked up my new ('03 Discovery S), next stop is to my Euro repair guy for a full inspection /preventative.
I fill up after 300 miles (approx). Usually put in about 20 gallons so 15 MPG. I suppose what with a 23 gallon tank I could travel another 45 miles making the range 345 miles....but I don't like to gamble that much.
When I feel like doing the math, I consistently come up with 16mpg, combined highway & city. A full tank will last me just over 300 miles. I try not to let it get below 1/4 tank, though. I'd have to look at the manual to see exactly how big the tank is.
Interestingly, the fuel gauge never gets above 3/4 full, even though I know it's topped off.
