Id give my left nut for 16mpg...but that's a pipe dream with a full brush guard RTE slim line, SD rack, and 33s on steel wheels.

I can get about 12.9 running around the National Forest and back & forth to work rarely getting over 55 MPH. Took a quick 1-day trip to NYC last Thursday (750 miles), and the further I drove, the better the gas mileage got; with last fill up @ 15.5 MPG's. It was mostly highway @ 68, with the last 45 miles through the National Forest @ about 50.

I get about roughly 220mpt (10-11mpg) when the light comes on but I've got 33s, arb, sd roof rack. I once got 300 or so before I upgraded to the 33s. I've messed around and done some "tests" what I've found is obviously, driving respectfully helps a great deal, 3rd around town or until you hit 50mph, but also and maybe it's just me but with a full tank I get better mpg for the first half of the tank vs the second half of the tank, usually about 12 or 13 mpg for the first half. Like I said, maybe it's just me. Been trying to save up for a regear to get some of the mpgs back but it's near impossible having a rover as a daily driver!

I get between 15-15.9 each and every tank (230-260 miles), with maybe one 14 MPG tank and one where I broke into the 16s! I always fill by the time it gets to a 1/4 tank, if it gets much lower I seem to have a fuel pick up issue, especially going up steep hills. I haven't done plugs or wires yet, and it's air filter replacement time, so maybe I'll sneak into the 16s a little more. Stock including tire size. Right now my UltraGauge reads about 2 MPG more than actual, but I haven't calibrated it yet for fuel usage.

I need to check that damn float arm, I'm sick of using the trip meter.

We see between 230 and 265 per tank which equates to 13 to 15.5 +/-. I think we've 16s once filling at teh top of the hill and coming 160 miles home.... might have had a tail wind too. Over the last year or so we upgraded to OME's MH/D 2" (get's me about 1" over stock), 245/70 BFG AT's at 42psi and a SD rack. Did new plugs & wires (8mm) and still see around 14-15 MPG +/-. Mostly around town, occasional trip to local SVRA and the camping trip to Sierras or Pismo. None of that has drastically effected a tankfull...

Those 16-20 numbers feel more like a poorly tuned 300Tdi (which I'd like :-)

Cheers, Tom

As of late i've been getting around 210-220 mpt depending on my driving habits. I have a feeling that my timing set is getting some slop in it as my milage has slowly crept downwards in the past two years from getting 230-240 per tank when I installed the lift and the rack. I'm going to build up a new long block with a fresh cam and lifters so we'll see how things go there. I don't think my truck was taken very good care of by previous owners as far as regular maintainence goes so now with 160k on the motor it's probably a bit tired.
