Default my 98 disco

I sprung a leak!!! Has anyone rebuilt a steering gearbox? I heard it was difficult.
Please advise.......I mean ...Please HELP!!!!!

The procedure in the Manual shows at least two special tools.

Actually, now that I read it more, it shows about 8 special tools. You might be able to do without some or all of them, but it looks like a pain.

If you're just going to replace the seals, it might not be as bad. I see remanufactured steering boxes on EBay for about $280. Seal kits are around $40.

I would read the RAVE carefully and decide if it's worth trying a seal replacement.

I would not mess around with doing it yourself, either buy a used one or a re-built from a parts store or e-bay.
