^ Roger that, there is a male terminal on my starter with nothing attached. The rave calls it a 'Lucar'. I'm not sure if something fell off or it's some accessory that's not applicable to my model.
I think it's under

Basically the first step in any significant effort is "Disconnect Battery Negative cable".

That prevents you from arc welding a wrench to the vehicle when you short a hot lead to the frame.

According to the RAVE instructions, removal of the starter is best done by a contortionist. According to my methyod, remove the front passenger's side wheel,
Stick your head under and you can see all of it.

There is supposed to be aheat shield over it, I removed mine years ago. I also took a pair of tin snips to that inner fender wall ner the sean and folded it out of the way and you are staring directly at the starter and the Y-pipe flange joint as well.

I completely reterminated my ground cable. Tom Rowe (AntiChrist )manufactures excellent replacement cables that are made with welding cable, milspec crimps and great insulation and even heat shielding.

If you are going to unbolt anything on the vehicle that has been on for a long time, start a few days in advance and spray it heavily with PB Blaster. Repeat often, it helps immensely.

Ok I scrubbed the starter with a wire brush and all seems well now, I appreciate everyone's help. I'll note that I used an entire can of degreaser on the underside in preparation for a suspension overhaul around last week. I left the engine alone for the cleaning. Maybe some got to the starter as I am missing the sheild. Food for thought. Again thank you everyone, I'm back in business.

Glad to hear that, your degreaser probably reacted with the starter connection and gave you a problem.
