Default New day,New problem.Stranded.

On my way to work this morning I cut off the disco to open a gate and it did
not want to start. It was running perfect before and when I started it again it was fine.On the way home I had one stop to make.Once again it was running
great before with no codes or problems.Went to start it ,turns over and shutters
and that's it.I let it sit for awhile and tried again and just turns over and sputters but won't start.Just put a new fuel pump in last month.Any idea's?

Why would you shut it off to open a gate?
Gate key on your key ring? Buy a second key ring for the gate key.

Does it smell like raw fuel when it wont start?
Have you tried holding the gas pedal part way down while starting?

Ok, from the sounds of it you have to little fuel pressure, check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail, if to little then check the fuel pressure regulator.
I assume you replaced the fuel filter when you did the fuel pump and I also assume you used a brand new pump assembly and not the DIY it works most of the time replaced only the pump from AuroZone route.

remove the fuel pump plug, clean it up and add some dielectric grease. You will prob notice a dark area around one of the pins. mine does this from time to time. Looking for a new rear FP harness.

Thanks for the replies.I went with the whole pump from AB and also changed the filter.
I will check the connection in the morning. It was a bit brown at one of the pins. I read that that was from the failing pump pulling too much current before kicking the bucket.Oddly enough when the pump failed I was a the exact same spot unlocking the gate. I guess I really do need that second key ring.

No AEL harnesses. Local LKQ has a 98. May have to take a gander at it.
