Default New Disco owner

Hello everyone I'm Nate and I'm a new Disco owner!

I bought my Disco last week and I have been daily driving it and everything seems to be checking out mechanically.
Heres what I know:
-new alternator
-new brake lines
-new valve cover
-new valve cover gasket
-new manifold gasket

Cosmetically I'm going to be on here looking for answers on door components cause my drivers side only opens from the outside and my driver rear only opens from the inside. Also some minor rust around the wheel wells.

I included some pictures on a rubber part that has holes in it along with some oil on the side of the engine. Any insight on all of the rubber components I should look at and replace assuming they've never been changed?

I am here to learn the ways of the Disco 1 and I'm excited to be a part of the community

Welcome. Got the right truck for the snow! Photo #4 is your cruise control rubber bulb. It is no good but it’s only cruise control.

Can you post a picture of your gear shift area? Want to make sure your CDL isn’t engaged as you daily drive it. See my photo below.

Yours should be in the same position as the one above, back and to the right.

And it’s an SD! I have one too. You’ll be thankful for not having to deal with leaky sunroofs. I also I have a broken cruise control like you seem to, but it’s no biggy if you’re not taking long trips on the highway. Also sounds like you need some new door springs. I have similar door issues which are common for these trucks because their springs get rusty and worn. I have had some mild success by spraying wd-40 on the latch hinge near the bottom of the door (not sure that’s recommended) but before I did that I would have to slam my body weight against the door while pulling the handle to open it! Now I just have to tug the handle a bit.
Hope you’ve checked under your carpets for rust.
There are some good folks here who will help you with whatever they can, if you can formulate your questions clearly enough.
Welcome! Good to see more people keeping these dinos on the road.

My Diff is in high like the image. I tried messing with it and shifting between low and high and everything seems to be working. Should that icon be on on my dash if its in High?

Thank you for the tips on the door! Its currently -5 in Wisconsin and its going to be that way for the next week. So I definitely won't be messing with anything for a while. I will take the panels off though at some point and check how rusted they are in there, maybe spray some wd40 or slap on some lube.

Like someone said above, not being able to open the door from the inside is likely a bad door spring. There aren’t any really good videos out there, but you get can the springs from a company called x8r. Once you have the unit out, you’ll figure out how to replace them. One spring is included for each door, and one for the hatch.

For the rear, since it’s only the outside, it may just need to just be adjusted. There is a great video on YouTube on how to adjust the handle pull.

The icon should not be illuminated if the **** is in the correct position for daily driving. It will illuminate when the **** is shifted to the left and the DIFF is locked.

That is true, however, if you shift to lock and the light comes on. It usually doesn’t go off until you go back to 4 hi and move a few inches.

I cant seem to get that icon off the dash. I tried messing with the stick and shifting it right and left. It doesn't seem to move right and left only forwards and backwards. Am I missing something? Im following all the directions on that sticker, shift to neutral etc...
