Danny, stupid question, on the plug on the MAF, there's the metal clip, do you just pull up on that to dis-engage the MAF plug? I need to clean mine this weekend.

You actually push down or in on it. I was unaware of that as well until I fooled with it for a minute or two. The harder part was figuring out how to get the screen out of place. The very front is a separate ring that just slides in and holds the screen in there, so you have to grab the front of that ring and gently work it out, I used a very small flat tip screwdriver blade to gently pry it loose. Mine had probably never been apart and the screen itself was solid black. I thought that was the color of the wire until I sprayed it and all the black came off. The wire is shiny now.

I put a paper towel on the bench and was amazed at how much blackness came out of my MAF.

Results were excellent.

10-4, push down on the clip. Doesn't look like it should go that way but who knew.

Danny, if you have never been over the track at the dealer go ask for a ride, they will be glad to take you in a LR4.

Spike, I watched his video and kinda thought it was funny when he said it scary going over the manmade incline.

The Monroeville LR Dealership has a separte test track behind their facility, but it still does not truly compare to the limited trail rides i have been on with the Fort Pitt LR Group. They like to go out and play in the snow and have a variety of different areas they visit.

None has been as rough as what Turf and LongHaul just posted on the Rovers on the Rocks thread. The Monroeville Dealer did send out invitations to be their guest at one place but even with the invite, they wanted a $75 fee for the day.

They sell a lot more Jags and BMW's to the Steelers and Penguins than they do LR's.
But I would like to test drive a SuperCharged RR Sport one day.

I dont know about other dealers but mine's test track is set right at the limit, it is FUN!!!
I've been over it in a DI, DII, LR3, Freelander and Range Rover.
I even went to Chicago back in '04? to test drive the new RR, they had a special offroad event day.
A friend and I went and drove a brand new $80,000 super charged Range Rover around a 20acre field that the dealer had rented, they had a set course to follow but still, it was muddy, street tires, the course also included paved roads and I tell you what...that thing is FAST!!!!
They had both super charged and non super charged trucks, about 20 of them, nice lunch, nick nacks to give away...I have a nice framed pic of me standing next to the RR I drove, somewhere.

I dont know, it is a '95 and I do not know what year Ford took over and screwed everything up just like they did with Rover and Jag.

This car is in need of constant repair, it has left me stranded once...I hate it.
It is fun to drive, it is quick as *** of the line and cruises at 90+ all day long without breaking a sweat and still gets 30mpg.
But it needs as much repair as it is worth and it is harder and harder to justify the cost of the repairs, I want it gone.

Fair enough. I'm not only new to LR, but also new to any kind of off-roading. You may be justified in laughing at me for that. haha

The MAF sensor seems to work like it should, but if it looks that ragged and I can fit it into the budget, then why not replace it?

As far as the starter goes, it was not very well grounded and the lead that goes to the solenoid was barely attached via the spade terminal. As I've already pulled the starter and given it a cleaning and inspection, I'm going to replace the ground wire, clean all the connections, and give them a good coating of dialectric grease. I'd kinda like to replace the unit with a gear reduction motor from britishstarters.com, but that would definitely not be cost effective if the one I have still spins.

Here's my short to do list for the moment:
Re-install starter with solid ground
New TPS and air filter
Gas vent hose
Service swivels
Ignition system tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, condenser)

I'm trying to knock out all the hard stuff before I have to go to WI in January for 6 months . . . Cause I ain't working on that thing in the snow. haha
