Default New P/S Pump, but lost power steering?

Helping out my father-in-law with his 98 D1. He has recently installed a new water pump and power steering pump. On the way from his house to mine, I lost the power steering. Once in my driveway, I check the P/S fluid and it was low, but I didn't think it was low enough to cause the power steering not to work.
There are fluid leak "stains" everywhere (could be from pump install) so it's hard to pinpoint where leaks may be.
Any thoughts?

Wipe everything clean and dry, fill to full with ATF, start her up, turn the wheel from lock to lock a couple of times, drive 100 yards or so down the street, come back, shut her off, and check for new leaks.

Other more knowledgeable people might have better advice, but the above has worked for me.

Ugh, so now I degreased everything so I can determine where it may be leaking, and try to bleed out the air in the line if there's any. Go to fire up the motor, and nothing. Up to this point, she had started right up. I check the valve on the fuel rail with the ignition on, and nothing came out.
And so it begins.....

Did you clean off the degreaser with a garden hose? If so, did you wrap electrical connections with plastic bags beforehand? I doubt these two problems are unrelated. Let everything dry out, and try to start her up in the morning.

I did get a little carried away with the cleaning process, and I did wonder about it. I guess I thought that these things would have been a little more water resistant. Guess we will see what happens tomorrow.

Not yet.....still don't have fuel at the rail from what I can tell.
I am stumped
😡
I have a battery charger on it, and I check the inertia switch, I am not sure what else to do

Last time I changed a PS Pump on a Jeep the instructions said to jack up the front and turn the wheels lock to lock without resistance a few times to purge the system. once when I didn't do that I had problems with a new pump, but I've had none if I followed the proceedure.

You might try it if you get the fuel going again.

Well, good news, I got the disco back and running. Guess it just needed a good day of drying out.
As for the power steering, defiantly have a leak and it seems to be in one of the hoses. From a quick look, it appears to be from the reservoir hose to the pump.
