Anyone here ever replaced the entire unit and had success? See below link:

What would prompt you to replace the entire assembly? It's really a simple, modular approach that Rover took with these sunroofs. I'll tell you right now, as someone who sells these parts for a living, that website is expensive AND wrong about DI and DII compatibility for these parts. But, hey, it's just the internet.

I'm at a dead end with what to do. My sunroof leaks and there doesn't appear to be a sensible fix. The interior of my truck is immaculate. I purchased it three months ago, one owner, very well kept. With that said, I want to keep it that way. What do you suggest as a fix for the leaky sunroof?

Do you have one or two sunroofs on your Disco?

It has two. The rear one leaks. It's closed and flush. I took it to a shop and was told it did would not open. I havent attempted to open it for fear of it getting stuck open. If there was a way to gut it and just have sealed glass there i would be fine with that option. I didn't realize that roverland parts were all used. Makes no sense to buy now.

I'm in need of a few other accessories. Checking out your ebay store now..

Ok, it sounded like you only had one sunroof which would have meant it was aftermarket and not genuine. First, the reason you may be leaking is that the tray is not draining. The sunroof rails and outer frame sit in an interior tray. At the front of the tray are two nipples to which drain hoses are attached. It is not uncommon for the hoses to get clogged. Usually, compressed air will blow out the hose allowing the tray to drain any water through the nipples and out the drain hoses. Your problem may in fact be that easy to solve.

If the sunroof is not opening can you hear the motor running or is everything dead. If everything is dead, I'm willing to bet that the motor got wet and burned out. If you can hear the motor trying to turn and open the roof, the rails may be the issue. To attempt anything with this sunroof you're going to have to drop the headliner ( a perfect time to redo it if it's sagging). With the headliner out you can disconnect the motor, remove the tray and pop out the glass, frame and rails. You'll be able to inspect every component of the sunroof to see what you really need to replace.

If you don't want to go to these lengths to sort out the roof, just get some silicone and seal it up.

When you say silicone, where exactly would I seal it? Put a bead around the glass on the roof or from the inside?

I'll check and see if it makes any noise when trying to open. I'm fine with sealing it though if it actually works. The headliner has no sags anywhere and is original. Amazing really.

You can seal it from the outside.

I silicone beaded around the entirety of my rear sunroof. It worked for a while, but it gave. So I FlexSealed the entire outside perimeter (my roof is rattle-canned black).

That didn't work, so I stripped out the headliner and tried tightening the screws of the metal surround - didn't work. So I took out the metal surround and flex-sealed the ever loving sh&T out of the entire underside of the sunroof. It's held so far. It ain't pretty, but it works.

Wow, thanks for the reply. Note to self, don't try and seal the outside. Apparently the outside sealing option doesn't hold well at all. I believe I am going to visit an auto glass shop and look into having a piece of glass sealed into place, no moving parts, just glass. Think alpine windows. A static piece of glass with a rubber seal would suit me just fine. I can't afford to have water ruin the interior of my truck.
