Default no cats

Curious. I have exhaust issues and a guy at work told me 10 years or older no need for catalytic converter. Thoughts please anyone. It's a 95 Disco.

AFAIK if it came with CATs then they must remain. However, I removed mine, welded in replacement pipe, and couldn't be happier. Since yours is a 95 you don't even have post-CAT O2 sensors. Removing them makes the exhaust note a bit more aggressive, simplifies the system, and adds a little more room to work. If you must pass inspections then it wouldn't be a good idea.

Yeah no inspections here in Northern Michigan. Definitely something to ponder. Thanx.

Sure there is something to ponder since your ECU does run based on many sensors including the 02"s beside it is a Federal standard that you must follow.

Dump them JJ, have straight pipe welded in and then take them to the metal recycling yard and get paid!!
They are worth $50 or more each, you have 2.
Your truck only has front O2's, those are the ones the ECU uses for fuel mixture, you do not have rear O2's.

Should you have the catalytic converters? Yes.
Do have to have them? No.
Will they help your exhaust leak? No.
Will getting rid of them help your MPG? Yes, alittle.

Are you throwing any codes? Or do you not have OBD-2?

Any particular reason you want to ditch them? What exhaust problems are you having? Could always just fix it, pay me now or pay me later as they say.

No emissions codes yet. Even of it did, I removed the CEL bulb and have a scanner, so I know which ones to ignore.

Well there's alot of rust. The downpipe that comes from the manifold rite under the flange connecter is almost rusted through. The cats are fine. The rear muffler is crap. The pipe before it is rusted in half. Not to experienced but thought maybe I could just run straight pipes like Spike was saying.

if youre welding in pipes, and you say the cats are fine... why not just weld to the inlet and outlet of the cats and leave them be?

if you need to add new O2 bungs, you can use an M18x1.5 nut (some O2s are different threads but 99% of the ones out there fit in that...)
