Is there a better one than the one made out of quark?

My next mission during my next oil change is to change it out...I got a slight leak in it...but I do not necessarly like the material

 

Use Right Stuff or Black RTV. I've always had better luck with them long term.

 

I have a thing against RTV...

 

White Shepard Oil Stop Leak and Seal Conditioner.
I used it and it works great, you have to drive for at least a hour after adding it though.
Replacing the gasket is the proper repair, but if you dont like cork, and wont use RTV, I dont see any other choice.

 

I see another choice:
WELD IT ON. Now that will be the last time you will ever take it off, but depending on how good of a weld you put on it. It may last for the life of the rover... I personally wouldn't do that however, really stupid actually. :flip2:

 

I wonder if you could use a D2 pan and gasket.
I used the cork gasket on my D1 and I didn't use any sealer (I didn't know I should, and I also have a thing against RTV most of the time) and it sealed fine and didn't leak.

 

Make your own gasket. It will fit and seal better. The one I bought didn't even line up with the bolt holes, and the cork was stretched in places. I had to cut it twice to make it fit. Finally I just made my own.

I thought about converting to the D2 oil pan and gasket..but have no idea if it would fit....i think it would

 

Buy a sheet of rubber and cut out the pattern. Too easy. Forget that cork, it will just dry out and leak soon. Garbage gaskets on these machines. Get into the habit of making your own.

 

This is what I have used for my gaskets. Commercial Grade Silicone sheeting -- extreme temperature resistance qualities
