If you keep on running it rich, you will to replace the CATS as well. You can tear it all down if you want, but you will still need new O2's when it is all said and done.

Don't understand why you are hesitant to do that next. I wish I had done that first on mine.

Read the article on Savannah's link to Gems Management. O2's are the main key to it. It should constantly switch from rich to lean to rich to lean all day long every few seconds.

Ok, well here it is why im changing cats, the truck when running has a foul smell like sulfur, and a guy at a muffler shop told me that the cats has gone bad, i found the Y pipe with cats oviously used but the guy told me that his truck was working just fine besides the fact that he had a head gasket leak, also he told me that his o2 sensors where only a few months old, so he gave me that whole assembly for $75.00. I figure i kill 2 symptoms at once, i will hopefully work on it this weekend and ill let you guys know, thanks for all your help, in this matter.

I had the same code (P1316) on my 96 Disco. Mine was a slipped cylinder sleeve. Do a compression and leak down test, or have one done before you throw any more parts at it. It's pretty common for the cylinder sleeves to slip. After months of research we decided to get Turner Engineering Rover V8. We have a blog on our motor swap with before and after pictures. Land Rover Discovery.

So tell us more about the new motor, like price, how it is doing and all that kind of stuff.

Default Turner Engineering V8

This is where you decide how much you love your Disco and whether you are going to keep it forever.

www.turner-engineering.co.uk...Check out their site.

I LOVE my new motor....runs like champ.

We ended up at about $7000, but we replaced pretty much everything, hoses, cooling pipes, bolts. I think the motor itself was about $4,000. Took three days to get here from England, right to my garage door.
