One Last Mod For Thanksgiving Weekend.....HOOD BLACKOUT
#13
What you talking bout yours looks great!!
I have tried almost every texture of black paint and three bedliners in my vehicle painting days.
First of all duplicator bed liner is known to suck.
I have used hitchhiker on my entire floor in my 4runner and it came out GREAT. but I chose to use rustoleum because I didn't want it too gritty. IN MY EXPERIENCE hitchhiker makes a better bed liner if you want ROUGH and durable. The granuals are VERY big and it's quite rubbery.
On my 4runner I have used rustoleum SPRAY CAN bed liner for my rocker panels. I DO NOT RECCOMEND USING THIS. texture is great but it is IMPOSSIBLE to get it perfectly even. You only get paint/liner if you hold the can so that the paint is at the tip/top. Horizontal works but if you go back and forth the paint will shift to the model and you'll spray a ton and then when its fiestas the bottom all you get is air.
I used the rustoleum inns quart paint can. I chose this because it's smoother than herc and rolling on is so much easier than painting.
To my surprise it didn't go as far as the herc. I used over half the quart on the hood and it took 4 coats (herc took 1-2)
I'm very happy. Only thing I can recommend is...
Don't try to pull tape before it has dried... And the restolium applicator kit is worthless other than the roller which I can't find at a hardware store.. It's like. Poly pours sponge with big holes to hold the granules..
