Default p1177 turck will not start when cold or raining

ok so i bought my truck in dec 2011 and a week after buying i notinced a cold start but it threw no codes and ran ok after a few minutes of fiddling with the keys ust in the past 2 months it has gotten very bad. so i did a auto zone tune up and wow what a mistake... i kept the ngk plugs and put my sti wires back on and it ran good until it rained and now it will not start today. i grease the wires when i reinstalled them also.the one thing that i noticed yesterday is at full throttle the power came on until about 2500 rpm then she fell on her face misssing and blubbering.also my fuel pressure is at 34psi at idle,i talked to my aka new mechanic sence in so done with working on the rover and he said it sounds like you need plugs and wires and im like omg 150 sollare for something that i tried already lmao bt he says sti wires and some plug that i cant think of with do her in.so im confused and i dont know what to do.i just dont want to waste money anymore... btw its a 98 d1 with 200k miles PLEASE SOME ONE HELP IM ABOUT TO TRADE HER IN IF I CANT FIGURE THIS OUT i hve searched this website everywere and i have not found one post that some oone has talked about this code being resolved

If you connect one of your old plugs, to the new wire - pulled off one of the plugs presently installed in the block. And you lay this old plug and new wire on the exhaust manifold, and crank the truck - if you don't see spark, then you should look at replacing your crank position sensor.

Water in the ECU, it is on the right hand fender infront of the washer bottle.
Unhook the battery, remove the ECU, open it, dry it, seal it with silicone sealant, let it dry, put it back.

None of you have picked up on what a 1177 is, unfortunately, I am dealing with the same code on a friends 97. An 1177 is, and I quote, Maximum Negative FMFR correction fault, easier said then found.
Basically it is caused by a vacuum leak that the ECU has tried to compinsate for by changing the fuel Map on the injectors. Got to find the leak, them have the ECU reprogramed with the proper computer.
That being said, I don't believe this should cause your issue, are you sure there are no other codes? The one I am working on, only has that code and drives well till it wants to stall sometimes at a stop light.
So regroup, quit worrying about plugs/wires and a wet ECU.

He is having a engine run problem not a code problem, he needs to get it running well before chasing a code.
Water in the ECU will cause rough run problems, lots of guys have this problem after going to the automatic car wash, ask DannyLee, he had that problem once.
He has this problem after it rains, so I say it is water in the ECU.

Spike, go back and read his thread and title over, also go research an 1177.
His first issue, as written was the 1177, had it for months instead of dealing with it. Second issues is it happens when it is cold and or raining. Yes, I am very much aware of the ECU, I knew of this problem when I was a service manager, long before you heard of it. That being said, his starting issue is happening when cold, not a wet ECU issue and after it rains, and unless he leaves it out with the hood open at night, a wet ECU mostly is not the issue either, unless he no longer has his hood weather strips.

re: unless he no longer has his hood weather strips

Wold these be the ones on the left and right tops of the fender wall? Mine was missing those, and I guess the front as well. So no wading for me. But perhaps a lot of older ones are also missing these - would that make the ECU much more likely to get wet? Or is it mainly splash from below? Wonder if a lot more owners are missing those strips?

BTW - I think Mike and Spike may both be right - this sounds like it could be more than one thing.
