hooked up my code reader i just bought and found the codes p1179 and p3999... what do i need to do to get the check engine light off!

 

Fix the codes. Start by downloading the RAVE(in my signature) and do a search for the codes. Then use the troubleshooting guide to find and fix your problems.

(sure, we could just tell you the answers, but anyone owning an older Land Rover needs to learn to find the info themselves and fix it themselves the right way the first time, or get rid of the Rover. It's not a vehicle for those that won't do their own research.)

 

Yeah I have no idea what those codes mean.

 

p1179.....air mass flow rate correction at maximum negative value...(could even be a poor seal at the gas cap) or an air leak.... somewhere......

what sort of maintenance have you done, any repairs lately ?, any other symptoms ?

 

chris-bob if i knew what it was then i wouldnt put it on here.... i can not find the code p3999... i did my research and did not find it...and thank u xcellar8... i will try to clean the maf sensor and clear the codes...

 

If you had done your reasearch, you would have come in here saying that you have those two codes, that you need help with the P1179 Maximum Negative AMFR Correction Fault Code and can find no info on the P3999(which is not currently used). Instead you came in here giving us no information and wanting us to decipher your problem.

 

What klind of code reader do you have?

Clear them and see if they repeat!
