Default Part Number Info

So, my brake lamp switch went belly up.

Checked all the normal Land Rover parts specialists...

~$70.00 for the switch.

there was one who listed it for less dough, but, it wasn't in stock

Part Number AMR2010 (original number, it has been superceded)

So, I checked, for giggles really, Autozone.com
Not only did they list one, it said that all my local stores had 1 in stock

Part Number RB411, (it's listed for Manual Transmission)

Fits my automatic transmission equipped truck just fine

The one they have listed for Automatic transmission is, I believe, for the standard transmission... maybe RR Classic... unsure.

But, the RB411 is the one for the AMR2010 application...

Oh, and It's $24.99, limited lifetime warranty.

The Limited Lifetime Warranty, as explained to me, means you get 1 free replacement should it fail. Fair Enough.

Yup, that's what I carry as a spare for the '97.

I was shocked to see that they stocked something for our trucks besides spark plugs and fake portholes...

I'm actually slowly putting together a list of domestic parts that will work instead of OEM. If anyone has any, let me know and I'll add it to the list.
I'll go ahead and post the list soon, then add to it as people send me part numbers.

One caveat, I only want part numbers people have actually used, not "I heard that xxxx works"
I don't want someone buying a part based on the list and finding it doesn't work.

Advance and O'reilleys carry one too. Same warranty and all under $20 here. Just got another one because the cruise / ABS side was going out.

I believe Larry wins the 2010 award for the most gratuitous over use of smile icons in a single post! lol

And just as an FYI, I keep paperclips in place of an extra switch. Jumper the traces on the rear window from the defrost to the third brake light. Just turn on the defrost and you have brake light and can shift out of park. This is by no means a fix, but it will get you to the parts house, where the switch is quite readily available..
