Passenger door lock switch doesn't work.

Ok so I am having a problem with my passenger door.
I can't open it from either the inside or the outside without holding the lock switch about 1/8th of an inch above door frame.
It will open from the outside only if I leave the key in on the unlock position. Otherwise it won't work.
The driver side does work and all the others unlock when I put the key in but its just the passengers side that will not open from the outside unless someone is holding it above door frame as I stated before.
I even worked on my parts vehicle to see if I could fix it but no result.
Any idea what this could be? Anyone had this problem? If so how can I fix it?
Thanks.

It really sounds like an adjustment issue and I expect you'll need to take the door panel off to dig in to it.
If you don't have them yet, I'd get the appropriate shop manual. You can get them hard copy, or electronic various placed around the net.
Here're the links to one source. RAVE download

What does holding it above the door frame mean?
What are you holding?
The key FOB / transmitter??
If you are talking about the FOB - sounds like time to replace the battery.
Holding the FOB above the door frame allows the UHF radio signal an easier path into the receiver thru the glass.
The door metal (aluminum) will block the signal.

LRchick, if it's not the locking actuator motor, then it's the locking linkage. To check to see if it's the motor itself, first close all doors except the problem door. Then using your finger to press in the courtesy switch (light/door ajar), and putting your ear close to the panel, with other hand press the LOCK button on your keyless remote. Press UNLOCK. Do this as many times as you need to listen for any noise behind the panel. If there is noise, then motor is working. Pull off panel (you can find videos on youtube) and check linkage. There may be noise, and yet still need a new motor though, due to it not having enough power to operate the linkage.

Had the same problem on my 96...replaced the actuator and it didnt help. It ended up being a broken spring in the door latch itself. There's a guy on ebay that makes replacement springs who is in the UK. I ordered a set for the whole truck for $30 shipped and the locks work great now. I'll try to find the thread with the link...

It requires a lot of patience. The door latch has to be removed from the door, after that, replacing the spring is pretty easy. The most difficult part for me was maneuvering the latch out of the door. The springs come with some instructions on what needs to be done, but I recommend printing out the diagram out of the Rave manual of the linkage so that you can reassemble it much easier.
