Passenger door lock wont lock with new actuator installed
Hello All,
I continue to peel back the problems on my 98 LR Discovery Series 1. I thought my door actuator was weak, so I replaced that with a new one and still have the same condition. The actuator bounces the door lock mechanism but it bounces right back to open. I have inspected and tried to lube it as i can manipulate it by hand, but the plunger on the actuator ends up coming back to the unlock position each time. I have also tried to adjust the distance from the locking mechanism to no avail.
Has any one had luck with fixing this with a known good actuator ?

With the fob,,lock pops back up. the lactuator plunger fully extends and the lock draws down, then a second later, the lock pops back up. it almost seems like it binds and puts too much pressure on the actuator, but I dont think it does. I haveadjusted the distance/depth of the actuator to the lock without change. when i turn the lock with a key, its niice and smooth, goes very easy. still perplexed....

Did you try locking the driver door with the key? All the other doors are supposed to lock when we do that.
Seems like it thinks it shouldn't lock. For example if we leave the key inside or in the ignition, or it thinks someone is still in the truck, something like that.
Mine don't lock all the time. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. They seem to do better during warm weather. I've taken to carrying a stick behind my seat that can reach the three far doors (press the lock buttons down), then close the back door driver side and lock it by hand from the driver open door, then close and lock the driver door with my key, and that's how I lock it up. Mostly I just leave it unlocked...
