Paying Above Blue Book for a '94
So i've been on the hunt for a couple months for a disco with a solid service record and good condition and I think I found one. The problem is the guy is asking $2900 for it and this seems high. I countered with $2000 but even that is above Blue Book. I'm curious as to what the Forum thinks about paying above Blue Book on a car like this. Granted I would take it in for an inspection before buying, I'm just on unusual ground with this one. Heres some of the things he has had done with records:
142,000 Miles
-Pads/Rotors
-Valve Cover Gasket
-Oxygen Sensor
-Intake Manifold Gasket
-Brake Master Cylinder & Transducer
-Front & Rear Shocks
-Front Passenger Window Regulator
-Radiator, Heater Valve & Hoses (radiator retails for $1000)
-Thermostat
-(4) new tires
What do you folks think? Should I stick to the Blue Book or does it seem like this one might be worth a bit more pending a clean bill of health from a PPI?

I picked up mine in June with 103k for $1850. If it had some mods ie rack, lift etc I would go higher then the BB. What did he say to your offer? By the way that cargo cover is hardly worth him noting.
Haha, yeah I thought that was a little odd. Hasn't responded yet but i'll let you know. It doesn't seem like there has been any worth wild mods to speak of. I just can't figure out why he is ask soooo high.
When a vehicle gets so old you can throw the book out the window at this point what is a decently taken care of truck worth to you, you would be hard pressed to find a Honda civic that old that runs under two grand.
So he re-offered the car at $2500. That's his lowest. Talking to him he sounded like he has taken the best care of this car. Even had the headliner replaced. Is 2500 a rip off or can I take it seriously?
I don't drive much (live and work in the same neighborhood), so really just for drives round town further than I feel like riding my bike, or hauling Costo **** back to my place. Really I want to take it with me camping. I have an Explorer right now and love the 4x4 but it got totaled so this will be a replacement for going to the mountains and desert.
