Please help, very odd coolant issue
Here it is. I just bought a 94. The truck is consuming coolant. Ive had to top it off after just driving around for 15 min. The part that is driving me really crazy is that the trucks has not run since Saturday morning and today I removed the expansion tank cap and to my surprise the system was still pressurized. Logically if the coolant is leaking somewhere then the pressure on the system ought to be leaking out the same way. I have not put an actual pressure tester on it yet which I plant to do but this really is driving me crazy. If anyone has any ideas please chime in!

I have a spare radiator but it seems to be circulating coolant. My main concern is where the coolant is going.

Or you have an extra quart in the oil sump... from same gaskets. But, if no overheating, no misfires, no white smoke; then maybe coolant is running away via the coolant cap venting at wrong pressure. You can zip tie a paper towel to the overflow line to see if any is being vented while you drive. And as it is a new to you truck you might not have seen leaks in all the places they can happen. You can rent/borrow a coolant pressure tester to pump up system to 15 PSI and leave it, leak will show up in 30 minutes usually if external. Spark plug can look steam cleaned in a cylinder with an HG leak.
But HG is a very common problem.
