Default Poly Or Rubber bushings ??????

Hey Everyone,

I need to replace my bushings.

I have searched for threads on bushings and there are lots of bits and pieces of info on various bushing but I thought I would ask everyone since most threads don't offer opinions.

So here are my questions:

Poly or rubber bushings ?

Soft, medium or hard bushings ?

What stiffness is best for what application? Daily driver, hauling, off-road?

Are poly better than rubber ? If so why?

What brand or brands do you recommend ?

What type of grease is used?

What type of press is needed ?

Do poly bushings cause more rust than rubber ?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Well I am running the full poly kit in orange ( think that is medium )that rovers north sells for $180 ish?

Used a older 20 ton press from hf and a few took all the power it had then popped out with a bang

Kit comes with grease that looks like vasoline

This is my daily driver seems fine with 2" HD ome lift and we trailride

I have no sway bars

Poly is resistant to oil and such, should last a long time, it has less give so it makes the suspension flex where it is supposed to imo

But just like with rubber, quality of the material makes a big difference

No idea on rust

Unless you can get Land Rover Genuine rubber bushings I'd go Poly all the way. The sad fact is that the QC for OE rubber bushings, be it AllMakes or BritPart, is nonexistent. There are more and more cases everyday of new OE rubber bushings failing within 6 months of install.
I can't see why Poly would cause any more/less rust than rubber.
You'll need a press to pop the old bushings out at least, tho you might not need it to install Polys.
I'd go with Red Poly for street use. Orange Poly for offroad use.

the one thing to remember with poly is they are going to be stiffer than rubber, sometimes greatly. Oh they do use special grease.

FishEH

I thought red was usually firm, orange was medium and blue was soft. Unless I misunderstood. Are you saying that I should use the firm polys (red) for daily driving ?

drowssap

Are you saying I should use a softer poly since they are stiffer than rubber ?

Yes, I would use Red or Orange for daily driving. The Red are Firm, Blue are Soft, and Orange are Dynamic(or right in the middle I guess?). Anyways, I would think the Red(Firm) would give better response on road. The Orange ones that I've had have held up well offroad and are more forgiving that Red. I don't have any experience with Blue.

I have blue all around. AFAIK even blue is more stiff than rubber so I see no reason to run orange or red except to rattle your teeth.

My orange is fine does not rattle teeth , but it may depend on the brand ink

Think mine rides great for a lifted sub not to hard or soft just a firm ride that takes bumps nice, unlike my 1 ton 4x4 dually
