Power steering busted. Merry Christmas.
Yep. Christmas came early for me.
Driving on an off-ramp and all of a sudden, as I make a slight turn, my steering felt super tight.
Ever since I got the truck, the power steering box had been "sweating". But the PS reservoir fluid never dropped significantly. PS fluid is currently topped off.
What do I do? What do I check? I'm thinking I need to replace the PS pump, but I won't be able to do that for another couple days. Can I still drive the truck with the failed pump--putting a little more muscle in the steering when I drive? Or will I significantly screw things up like the PS box and steering?

Finally fixed the steering issue with a replacement pump and lines from the JY. $75 fix.
One thing to note, the job would have taken about an hour had I not skimmed through the RAVE. I ended up rounding off the bolt head to the housing for the pump--something that doesn't need to be taken off in order to remove the pump itself. Spent an entire day trying to take off one bolt and almost succumbing to cut the head off and then extract the bolt (maybe even retap). I was worried. Went through the RAVE with a fine tooth comb, and OMG, just need to remove the pulley, five bolts and two inside to get the pump out. An easy job. I made it too difficult not referencing the RAVE.
Lesson learned: READ THE RAVE.
