Power steering hoses.
Ok everyone, I was at the you wrench it junk yard today and this is what happens if your power steering hose(s) spring a leak while you are driving.
Notice it melted the aluminum fender and part of the brush bar is gone.
The fire dept had to peel the hood open.
Inside.
So lets stay ontop of things people.

Look at the pics, most of the fire damage is on the drivers side, where the power steering is.
It is common for the power steering to leak on a Land Rover.
The exhaust manifolds are extremely hot while driving.
So while I dont know for 100% that it was a power steering leak, looking at the pics and knowing what I know about Rovers it is a very well educated guess.
Hows that for a answer?
I should have also taken a pic of the other fire damaged DI they had, the interior was completely gone, looks like it started in the center console.
FYI, there is a ground cable under the parking brake handle, the insulation can get rubbed off of it and then it shorts out and can start a fire.
A sure sign of this is a hot to the touch parking brake handle.

Great now in addition to watching my hood for smoke, my gas gauge for rapidly depleting gas reserves, my oil gauge for drops in pressure, my temp gauge for temp spikes, my dash for check engine lights, I will be constantly touching my brake handle to check if it is hot. Thanks ALOT Spike lol.

I believe we have already established that when driving a disco you do not have time to "watch the road", that is for the other drivers to worry about. They can dodge us while we try to avoid a cataclysmic meltdown of our trucks lmao.
