Question About D1 Hub Assembly
Background: I looked in the RAVE, page 501 shows an exploded view of the front hub assembly. However it shows #12 (hub) as a single part, including the (?) wheel studs (not sure if that is the right term).
I am getting ready to do the front rotors, and noticed one of the wheel studs is stripped. I mean the threads are rounded for the first 1/2" or so and it resists any lug nut I put on it. I can thread it on, but it offers noticeable resistance.
Question 1: Are the wheel studs replaceable, or do I need a new hub assembly? I couldn't find anything about this in the RAVE. On other vehicles I've worked on, they are usually splined and have to be pressed in. Then again, those usually went straight through the brake rotor, and the hub was mounted differently...
Question 2: If the wheel studs are replaceable, will I need to have the hub off the vehicle to replace it? I am assuming yes, but I always second guess my assumptions when I'm working on a Rover.
EDIT: Here is the diagram in question.

But if it is beyond repair... it is replaceable.
Stud - Hub for Defender 110 | Land Rover wheels, tires, hubs, axles
Not sure if it will clear the brake rotor, I doubt it. You'd probably have to take it apart.

When I changed the rotors on the Disco, I did notice the studs can be removed. The hubs will need to be separated in order to press them out. I've changed to longer race studs before (on other cars), and it is straight forward.
I too was looking for them for the Disco and found a company in the UK...here is the link..
Zeus Engineering
Good luck and hope it works out.
