Default Question about a P1316 code

SO, 1997 D1 129K miles. Did the HGs, (checked, lapped in valves and resurfaced heads.) fuel pump, fuel filter, Plugs, wires, valve cover gaskets, and other stuff I am forgetting. Oil light goes off upon starting in about two seconds.

It has always run well. First check engine light in three years P1316. The other day, the tail section of the tailpipe fell off. No big deal, still runs, get one at the JY. Then within 5 miles, P1316. Is it possible the lack of the exhaust is the cause? It runs the same, I didn't know if the lack of a tailpipe, the piece after the resonator, just a curve and small muffler could cause the CEL?

Default

Being that P1316 is a misfire code, IMHO the missing tale section of the exhaust is not going to do that. I would check the wires, coils, and plugs/gap.
What brand plugs and wires did you install?

Default I forget

I forget, but they were cheapies from Oreilley's. Also, I know I have a fuel injector issue, smell gas with start up, and am about to tear into that as soon as it warms up a bit.
