radio code from serial number
Trying to get a '96 Discovery going, and how to get the radio working. I've read that if I don't know the security code for the radio, I can use the last 5 digits of the serial number. Or four digits, there are several variations I've found so far.
Problem is that the radio only has numbers from 1 to 6. My serial number has an 8. Does Harmon-Kardon (No relation to Carmen Hardon, who, if she exists, must have some interesting stories) accept base 2 notation, or else how do I uncork this box so I can listen to Rush Limpballs in full quadrasonic glory?

Tried using this site:LANDROVER RADIO CODES | Online Landrover Radio Decoding, Guaranteed with Free Code Entry Help
But it says to enter 14 digit serial number, and mine only has 10 numbers and letters. I have the type with two small allen screws to remove, and three wiring connectors on the back of the radio. There is no brand that I can see anywhere, but the website says that they only cover Blaupunkt, Clarion and Phillips.
