Is there a way to fix/replace the bulb or led for the stock radio's display?

 

Solder on LEDs can be found at Radio Shack. I don't have the size or rating, stock radio took a hike to the spare parts bin a long time ago for one with Bluetooth. Liked the weather band tho.

On the same topic.. Anyone ever replace the radio LCD or can you even solder in a new one? My LCD bled through. I know I can put an aftermarket head in but the like the factory radio.

Another question, will this ROVER LANDROVER 99-05 Auxiliary 3.5mm Car Adapter
work with the stock radio? It does not have a factory CD changer and I can't recall what the back of it looks like. Don't know if LR used one head unit and just added the CD changer.

 

There where a couple of different units, with and without the changer. Most of us have the premium setup. I'd hold off on the aux adapter until you see the back of the unit - whether the plug leads are the same. Should be a Pioneer radio and there's a number on it somewhere, I'm at work and don't have my bin'd unit to look at......

 

Actually, the US only saw one radio, AMR2772, for the DI and '95 RRC. It was the premium offering from Land Rover and would work with the CD changer.

 

I can't remember if the pioneer head unit changed from '93 to '95 but the cd changer connector changed from a round type to a square type in '95 I believe.

I'm working on a cool mod that doesn't require any hacking at the stock head unit. Plug the dongle in place of the cd changer and run an aux cable from the trunk to the cubby and you can control your iPhone from the stock head unit. Press the prog button to activate Siri and the track forward and back buttons to skip music tracks. It also allows for a mic to be mounted on the steering column.
If I get it all working I'll post a howto.

 

The end that went into the radio stayed the same but because the CD players were different between '93/'94 and '95 (and all the DI's for that matter) the plugs were different at the cd changer. Also, for what it's worth, the original radio in the '93/'94 RRC had a different part number, RTC7713.

 

Yes, please do. It would prevent me from handling the device when I want to skip songs. Handling the device is technically illegal, but somehow you can play with it all you want if you mount it somehow on the dash. I never quite understood that difference.
