radio installation

Just got my new deck installed today on my 98 D1. Bypassed the factory front amplifier as per the instructions on this thread. Worked great. Thanks.
However, the bass is a bit weak with just the factory speakers and since I already got the factory subwoofer in the back door, I want to see if it is possible to get it to work with the aftermarket head unit.
I want to use the new head unit's internal amp for the 6 speakers(4 door speaks and 2 tweeters), and use the factory subwoofer and it's own amp.
I am trying to avoid doing major wiring work and utilize what I already have on the truck.
The main issue is to get the factory subwoofer amplifier to power up.
This is what I did:
1. Locate the factory front amp white 18 pin connector(C2054).
2. Locate Light Green/Purple wire(LGP, pin 9). This is the hot on ignition key on wire.
3. Locate Purple/Yellow wire(PY, pin 14). This is the subwoofer amp power wire.
4. Connect the two wires LGP and PY.
5. On the same connector(C2054), locate Red wire(Pin13) and Black wire (Pin 12). These are the pre-amp audio signal.
6. Connect these two wires to your deck's subwoofer low level output(RCA).
Mine worked with just the red wire (pin 13) connected but it got ignition noise. Once I hooked up the black wire (Pin 12), no more humming.
