If it's clean at that mileage you could get 4500$ from someone who is an enthusiast. I paid 4k this exact time last year for mine with 95k it was clean and I even flew 700miles to pick it up

EDIT: DIDN'T SEE IT WAS A 96. Id have to say 4k

depends on where you are located and what shape the truck is in.

check Craigslist.org , that'll give you an idea on what they are going for in your area. $4500 seems a bit steep to me, but, that's nothing to go by.

I paid $1700 for my 95. she's cleanish, but, I had to do a lot of maintenance stuff right after I bought her, but, she made it the 3.5 hours home from Long Island to Jersey!

People who know these trucks will pay top dollar if it is a clean well documented vehicle. I'd say $4500 isn't too off base. Problem is for every nice one there is nine pos's hosing up the resale value :-(

I'd pay $4000 for it....i paid 2800 for mine..needed a paint job....but it already had new water, rebuilt engine and such done to it...

what you to factor in as well...at 72k head gasket will be on the list to do within a year or so for the next owner

I think 4500 is a stretch unless it is absolutely pristine and FULLY serviced.

All depends on where you are. With Gas at over 4 bucks a gallon for premium, prices on a 12 to 16 mpg vehicle that age is certainly not appreciating, rather they could crash severely dude.

Advertise it and see what responses you get.

I don't think gas is going to make that much of a difference, these things have crappy millage at 2 bucks a gallon. We knew that getting into them. Heck, we had a Silverado that got worse millage than this thing and wasn't half the fun. Got to put it in perspective, Discos are cool. Like an old Cuda(I think mine got about 8mpg) . Their time just hasn't come yet. I think the Disco I/II is probably the most desirable truck in the LR line and will soon become a collectable. The fewer there are on the market and the harder they become to find, the more they will cost.

Honestly, I'm not sure why the resale is so bad on these. My guess is because finding a nice running one with no issues is so rare. People who don't know these trucks seem to have an inflated value of them. I don't know how many people have seen mine and said something like "I always wanted one of those but could never afford one" or just assumed I made a lot of money just because I owned one. When I tell them how much I paid for it their jaw usually drops.

So if you are in no great hurry to sell it, put $4500ish on it and see who bites. My buddy just put his lifted 84 Bronco on the market for $4000 and it gets about 10mpg. He has had plenty of bites. It's all about the market man!
