rear brake squeal and backing pad grease

rear brake squeal and backing pad grease
I have been fighting a squeal on my rear brakes ever since i changed the rotors and pads. As i'm coming to a stop the rear brakes will squeal unless i press the brake pedal down harder. Does this indicate the pads are moving in the caliper and rubbing against the caliper pistons? If so, will a good high quality grease solve this problem? What brand? If not, is it time for new calipers or a rebuild at least?
I even bought the no squeal pads with the padded backing plate. The soft padded part soon had a piston shaped hole in them and the squeal came back.
This is on a '96 discovery.
Thanks,

I've always heard that shimmed brake pads aren't supposed to have or need any "quiet grease"...
My rear calipers don't take a pad that's shimmed, so I used quieting grease (the orange-red stuff).. front pads are shimmed. No squeals except from bearings that I accidentally packed with valvoline petro jelly.. but that's a different story!

thought i'd post up an update.
pulled the wheels and brake pads again today and put some CRC Brake and Caliper Grease on all the metal on metal surfaces. did the backing plates, retaining springs where they hold the pads in place and even the retaining pins. went for a test drive and the squeals are gone. so, i'll see how the grease holds up and if the squeals stay away.
having run through this so many times before, i can now get all the tools, set up the jack stand, jack up the rear end, pull the tire, pull the pads and put it all back together again in less than twenty minutes. all in a gravel drive way. if this isn't fast don't tell me. sometimes even the perception of victory is enough.
