Default Rear Moon Roof Woes

Hello All

It seems that I am on here a lot lately. Well being a newbie Land Rover Discovery person, I think I have run into quite a few issues. Just today it started raining really hard here in Portland area and I noticed a little bit of water inside the vehicle. Well I got home and took the family to eat dinner and when we got back into the vehicle the entire rear section was soaked.

So I tore the head liner out and removed the rear moon roof. But is there a gasket kit for the moon roofs on my 98' Disco? I would recommend any new Disco person to check the moon roofs on their rigs.

Thanks
ed

Did you check the drain lines to see if they were clogged?

Mine had a slight drip on the front one at the corner seam where the front piece and side piece meet. The factory seal had come off.

Also leaks around the Alpine windoews due to the little holes that corroded thru the body and the dried up and split rubber seals on the rear side windows.

You should probably remove the rear cargo area carpet and pad and see what the floor panels look like.

yea the rear mat is literally a sponge and will hold gallons of water, when I pulled mine out it was like 50 pounds

Does the rear moon roof work on yours? Mine doesn't work and to fix my leak I just caulked mine in place. I have bigger fish to fry than fixing mine lol. If they do work I would suggest starting with drain tubes like danny lee suggested. They clog and are a common source of leaks. And as danny lee and tweak said, pull that rear carpet and pad. Otherwise you will regret it later when you are cleaning up rust and trying to stop its spread.

You should also take a look at the front floor pans as well. I have all the carpets out of mine currently and most likely forever more.
