Default rear QT diff & weight

So I had thought that I was sent the wrong rear QT diff guard because when i went to install it the thing was hitting the flex joint. I thought the end was supposed to be round to accommodate this.

I gave up till it got warmer.

Well I decided to have another look and after browsing the forums there seems to be a weight that sits under the rear diff that the PO must have removed. I'm assuming that with this weight the space of the mounting plate will allow the diff guard to clear the flex joint.

Does anyone know if the 97 D1 does in fact have this weight?

If i can't find one (i'd rather have it there if its meant to be there) I'll just fab a steel spacer to get the diff on.

Any thoughts?

No, your '97 DI did not have the harmonic dampener on the rear axle.

That said, I don't think the QT diff guard will work with the rotoflex due to interference.

hmmm. Time to call Lucky 8 i guess.

I'll try a spacer first and if i cant return and trade it ill just refab the end where it hits.

Thanks for the reply!

Yea Mike I'm at a loss here and I had a feeling that you would say that. If you have the time could you post a pic of yours. It's such a simple thing I don't know what is going on.

Dude, just call justin, you're either being stupid and dont see the answer, or it's not right and he'll make it right. Either or. BTW, im probably gonna have some one running up to buffalo and making a pickup for me around easter, so if you want to swap it out and save on shipping.....

Dork. I'll come over and fix it for you. Nothing a little heat and a hammer probably couldn't fix.
