Need to upgrade rear shocks, I got a pair of stem loop adapters and I was given a 5100 bilstien so it fits the bottom but the stem on the upper mount is too large diameter

Looking at shocks before I noticed some d1 were for large upper mount and some were for small upper mount ?
Current shocks are and truck sways a lot IMO

2" OME and new bushings fixed all my issues of sway play!

 

I wasn't very impressed with the OME shocks I had. I have the yellow/blue Bilsteins now and they're pretty good.
The stock upper mount is 3/4" diameter I believe. You can get aftermarket upper mounts that will accept 1/2" loop/eyelet shocks.

 

I used the Bilsteins, were still good at 100K. The adjustable SPAX had to be replaced.

 

Out of curiousity fishEH, what model / part number are they, and are they for stock or lifted (I've seen some threads for the 5100 vs the 4600).

They show two options for the front and two for the rear. IDK which ones I have as they all look the same. All I know is I bought the truck with them on there and to my surprise they were still good when I swapped bushings last year.

I hate the OME shocks, blue and yellow blingstiens are decent but a bit on the stiff side.

are the Bilsteins ok with a 2 " lift ......they are long enough ? just asking...cuz the terra firmas that I have on my '95 are crap.....

 

I used 2'" DROP SHOCK MOUNTS WITH THE YELLOW BILSTIENS iirc during articulation MY REAR SHOCKS WERE TOPPING OUT, I don't think they are stiff at all , no more than a plain gas charged shock but they do seem to "heat up" and lose their shock absorbing property imo


at this point I need d2 rear shocks for the eye to eye adapters, I would think they are heavier shocks since the d2 is a little bigger /heavier ?
