Default Rear step install

Can someone, anyone, post a picture of their D1 rear step and where the little strut mounts through on the frame side? For the life of me I can't figure it out or find any pictures on google, and my Disco doesn't seem to have ever had a step. I just got a used step here on the forums and will need to get a strut for it, but that won't do me much good if I can't figure out where the damn thing mounts through. TIA.

Hey Russ, thanks for your reply. Shoot, I just paid $20 for one! However, I may be interested in the little (hypothesized) strut bracket and associated mounting hardware. Shoot me a PM?

Aha! There IS a little bracket there! Please let me know if you'd be willing to part with yours

I used to see these barely hanging on back in the day. Most were in the permanent down position i guess bc the hydraulic was shot. I always thought is was one of LR’s attempts at a good idea but.. Anyway, if a new one ever landed on my front door I’d slap it on just because.

Yeah I’d be surprised if anyone on here still has the original strut. The usual vendors have a kit with new strut and hardware, but the cheapest is around $70. I’m hoping to find something else that’ll work once I can get the proper measurements for the strut.

Org strut on mine, works great. It retracts up, and needs about 1/2in of assistance to go all the way.
