Default rear view mirror mount

Here is a strange one...
the mirror mount on the windshield came off breaking a big divot in the windshield. I have not seen this before. Any way to dissolve the glue holding the glass to the mount pad? or where can I find a replacement?? I have a replacement D2 mirror to use and I think if i move it over an inch oe 2, I ca bond it back to the glass. I need a flat back on the metal tab to mount to the windshield.

I keep finding those little things on this truck....

I've seen it done with heat (small torch style lighter) but the risk is cracking the windshield. should be some vids on youtube

Good to know. Metal tab is not on the glass now, just a big divot where the glass broke and is stuck to the metal tab.
