Well the good news is it appears nobody died in either of those videos. I think you'll be fine

It's pretty funny... but someone would get a beating after....

as i seem to remember reading somewhere the grab handle opening was a different size than the air bag opening on the north american trucks, so getting all that swapped over without swapping the dash requires making a cubby... ive yet to see one that looks anything close to factory.

would be neat though, i looked into doing this for the added storage and to get rid of one more thing off the truck hah

That's kind of why I'm doing what I'm doing to this 95 I'm rebuilding. I want to basically strip it down to only whats actually needed in the truck to run. (plus of course A/C...) Working on the KISS principle.

Since I have to replace the dash anyways I'll keep my eyes open for an earlier version.

They do show different part numbers for the dash in microcat for with and without airbag. I'll bet THAT would be an expensive import.

Now I'm feeling even better I did this.... BTW, I see that the entire SRS system is to be serviced every 10 years. It's writing right on the sun visor.

INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL FAULT COULD DEPLOY AIR BAG

Land Rover has established that in certain circumstances chafing can occur to a cruise control wire. The resulting intermittent ground could cause the rotary coupler to fail, which in turn could initiate an involuntary deployment of the air bag.

To ensure customer vehicles are protected, Land Rover has initiated a voluntary Recall Action on all vehicles within the affected VIN range to fit an additional fuse to protect the rotary coupler. Disco [...]

Would it be possible to remove the passenger side airbag and build a mount for a laptop? I have a Toughbook and was thinking about trying to mount it somewhere. Was going to use it for GPS / mapping.

Seems to be plenty of room for a mount like that... I'' go out and take a picture of it removed so you can see what you think. I would require a little fabbing to make it look right...

I agree. I recently had mine out and I put my MAC book inside the little hole while I was taking it apart.
