Default Review: Lubegard RED ATF Fluid

Alrighty. So I added this stuff about 2000 miles ago (the LR has been maintained perfectly with records) because I had a harsh 1-2 shift periodically..not all the time...but it was annoying.

I heard great things about this Lubegard Red ATF additive that helps with harsh shifts and keeps your ATF fluid from sludging up at higher temps (which if it true it is a great addition to our rigs but that is not why I got it)

LUBEGARD Automatic Transmission Fluid Protectant

I am happy to report that after some good driving and miles...this ZF is shifting AMAZINGLY and SEAMLESSLY...if I didnt have an exhaust on this rig you really could not tell that it was shifting at all...truly awesome...it actually smoothed out my shifts across the board.

Before you ask..yes every 60K miles the filter was changed and every 25K miles ATF fluid changed. Truck has 118K miles on it

It's probably a friction modifier additive. I've seen one of that brand's other products shipped with rebuilt import transmissions, to "convert" it into the OEM type ATF that already has FM's in it.

This is the stuff: LUBEGARD Highly Friction Modified ATF Supplement

At the shop I worked in as a teenager, we never actually used it. We just put the actual OEM fluid in.

I have no opinion of the product, but I'm glad to hear it works well for you. I might try some next time I do a fluid change. I was also considering just using something that already has FM in it, like Honda ATF (which I keep around because I drive Hondas).

How much does that stuff cost?

Good to know, I get the very opccasinal hard shift from 1st to 2nd, but only when I first drive it after it has sat all night/day and only if the a/c is on, and it only does it once, and only during the summer months.
Its weird.
I'm going to change the filter and see if that helps, if not this stuff might be in my future.
