Your in training to be my replacement....... One day you'll roll up in your new Range Rover and tell them where, what and how you want it done.

I've been asking around about LR repair shops whenever I see someone driving an older model similar to mine and I got a good consensus regarding a shop not too far from me so I will try them out.

Very resourceful you are.....

This is just off the top of my head........ usual.

Do you know the condition of the Positive Crankcase Ventilation system? It's possible it's dohickey thingy is clogged which would eventually over pressurize the crankcase and push more oil through the combustion process and out the tail pipe. The valve is really a plastic molded series of discs and sits in a protrusion on the passenger side valve cover.

Sorry for the late reply.

That should be it. Just go to any parts store and ask them for a 19mm o-ring.

Quick lube shops... not the best for advice or work... I have had misdiagnosis from people who don't know what they are talking about as a Discovery is a little more specific than a domestic sedan at quick lube shops because they are looking to make more commission based on the "services" they upsell. I also correct them with their misdiagnosis's lol

Start with the smallest and cheapest thing first such as the oil pressure relief valve. Go to the Land Rover shop you mentioned, mention to the mechanic that you have some leaks and mention the oil pressure relief valve and some new oil pressure hoses... then see if that slows the oil disappearance down first. Continue based on other people's recommendations on this forum as they know their and half of the shops just guess for some of the issues based on how much you are willing to open your wallet.

Just because something is covered in oil doesn't necessarily mean that it is in need of replacing. Oil leak sources can be somewhere entirely different than where the oil/sludge buildup appears, as gravity, a moving vehicle, and vibrations can make oil/ fluids trickle/drip/creep to almost anywhere.

OK I will investigate that as well. I'm pretty sure none of the gaskets or the dohickey lol have ever been replaced during the life of the truck and wouldn't hurt!
