RTV seal the crankshaft?
Not gonna do the crankshaft seal or the head gaskets for the moment.
Spike, remembering you got a 4 year seal on that. Any procedure for that or just get in there and do it?

Hey you like what you like and I like what I like.
Spike says there's a trick. I need some tricks.

Even a new seal won't do a thing on a worn pulley. If you have a groove on the crank pulley you'll need to replace the pulley or fix a repair collar to it. Fun either way. Why not replace the seal Slang? It's a cheapo part and at least that is super easy to remove once the pulley's off. I've done it (forced to) so I know it's not hard.
Wood screws can pull it right out. But the finger of RTV coating around the shaft will cure overnight, when cranked it makes a hairline split, and will slow the leak. But it is not a long term fix.
well Spike got three years.
i'm semi retiring the vehicle....i don't want to put any more effort or money into it for the time being. i need to get the D2 road worthy.

it needs a new headgasket...so why stop there?
actually the pulley is squeaking I think so you're probably right about that.

I've been computerless...
RTV on my finger, gooped up all around the seal after I cleaned/dried it off.
I got a good 3? years out of that "repair", it was meant to be a temp fix to slow the oil leak until I could replace the seal.
It worked so well I left well enough alone.
Then it started leaking again in the dead of winter of course, a bottle of White Shepard added to the crank case and then a nice 3.5hr drive and it stopped the leak for another 2 years.
This summer it is getting fixed the correct way.
If your truck is not going to be a daily driver fix it the correct way, its a $2.00 part and a hours work.
If yours is leaking like a sieve and you need to get to work in the morning...go for it.

Seriously, I need a new headgasket, new oil hoses, crankshaft gasket and probably a pulley, new sump gasket and sump plug and washer. And an oil change.
I'm thinking I can cut the problem by 75% with the sump gasket/plug and park it awhile. Maybe then see why the brake fluid is leaking, stop that and move on to the D2.
